A definition of Pride.
I work a lot in the education sector, photographing prospectus's across the North West. Over the years I have met and photographed some truly inspiring young people.The importance placed more and more by colleges on celebrating the achievements of their students is great to see and share.
So I was really excited to be working once more with the energy of Val Dickinson of Defero Consultancy , who I had worked for on a fab campaign for the Pride of Tameside in collaboration with Tameside College. This was to be a new campaign for Knowsley Community College under the auspice of the new Principal Anne Pryer .
A chance to celebrate and congratulate success on many levels of the students of Knowsley Community College. Working alongside the newly appointed marketing manager Felicity Jenkinson, we planned for the session .
I wanted to create an almost heroic lighting set up for the sitters but mindful that this would be for most their first time in such a situation. Along with the video crew I arrived at the college and set up the studio, using a combination of beauty dish and under soft box fill to really pop the eyes. The timings were tight, so in a very short space of time I had to bond,put at ease and make feel comfortable each sitter. Every session had to be covered off to work in the various formats the final campaign, so covered off both vertical and landscape rather than cropped to suit , I am old school so in camera suits my style of shooting more .

Post Production followed again I wanted the images to really sing and as some were going to be reproduced up to 48 sheet was an important part of the commission . Unfortunately I didn't get to see any of the many bus backs, strip banners around Knowsley as I was away . If anyone does have a pic please feel free to send me.
The final part of my involvement was to cover the actual awards ceremony at the most fantastic venue. The gorgeous warm evening of the 11th June myself and assistant headed to Knowsley Hall where the ceremony was to be held . It looked amazing and I had a smile seeing my work in such a setting and great to see the fab students I had photographed. With a performance from one of Pride recipients the up and coming band Valentine 3 a great night was had . My role was to capture the evening and show a slideshow to close the event, always a bit of pressure one but we did it .
So a big PRIDE shout out to all the recipients of this the inaugural Pride of Knowsley awards.
